"I've been beaten up by a boyfriend; raped, mentally, emotionally, verbally abused by a boyfriend; molested by a male teacher; tormented to the point of an eating disorder by a boyfriend.
Today, I refused to let that hurt me any longer.
I take my first steps as a strong woman."
"Friends always asks me why don't I ever wear shorts or anything that shows my back.
I tell them I just don't like showing skin. But truth is, I have lots of scars. Because my dad beats me .
Sometimes I wish someone would spot one of the marks and ask what happened, so my dad will be exposed."
"When I was fourteen, I saw my dad shoot and kill my mother.
I hate Father's Day."
"I secretly think Green Day sucks.
I only put up with their music because I like sitting close to you while we share headphones. I only asked to borrow their CD from you so I could slip a note asking you out into the case.
I also think you're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen."
"I need you. I want to be able to sit with you and lean on your shoulder and just talk.
But I can't tell you how I feel because I feel like someone like me doesn't deserve something like that.
Love doesn't come in XXL."
This one broke my heart.

But I do know that if a guy, girl, alien, I don't care who or what, does not accept you as you are, whether you weigh 100 pounds or 500...that person does not deserve you. Who do you want to fall in love with? To marry? To grow old with? Someone who judges you based on your appearance, or someone who loves you for who you are? I know it sounds cliched, but it IS true. If you ever decide to lose weight, I KNOW how hard it is. I've had my fair share of yo-yo dieting and I've never even been technically overweight. It is a tough cycle to break! But anyway, I digress. If you do ever decide to lose weight, do it for yourself. For your health and happiness, not for anyone else. We are all beautiful people. It is not the size of our waists or the color of our hair or skin that defines beauty. We live in a diseased society that has tricked us to believe these lies. Just close your eyes and embrace yourself. Can you breathe? Can you feel your heart beat? Can you think your own thoughts and feel your own emotions? Isn't that miraculous enough? Isn't that beautiful enough? I believe it is. What do you believe?"
